What is a Good Response?
If you have ever touted direct mail’s ability to deliver empirical results, you know about “The Inevitable Question.” Almost on cue, as you rhapsodize about testing, tracking, analysis and predictive results, the client will train an eyeball on you and ask, “What’s a good response rate for direct mail? One percent? Two? Three?” ....

The Most Common Mail Mistakes that Cost You Money!
Each issue in this column we will feature one of the most common mistakes mailers make. Here's the fifth.
Different stocks of paper mixed in print run. If your printer runs out of stock during a print run, they must order more of the same stock. Mixing different print stocks will cause problems with postal verification. The post office verifies mail based on weight. All pieces must weigh the same. The mail may not be accepted or you may have to pay more postage.
Look for the next mail mistake in our Fall issue.
