Postal rates will increase
January, 2011.

The United States Postal Service filed for a price increase with the Postal Regulatory Commission. Overall, the proposed increase averages 5.6%.

The Postal Service acknowledges the price increase will impact customers, but expects the total net benefit of the higher prices to be about $2.3 billion, an amount that will reduce the agency's anticipated Fiscal Year 2011 loss to about $4.7 billion.

The Postal Rate Commission has until October 4, 2010 to respond and could make changes to the proposed rates.  Implementation is planned for January 2, 2011.

The Most Common Mail Mistakes that Cost You Money!

Each issue in this column we will feature one of the most common mistakes mailers make. Here's the first.
No valid non-profit permit with the USPS.
Your organization may be recognized as a non-profit by the IRS, but unless you have a valid non-profit mailing permit with USPS, you cannot take advantage of the lower non-profit postage rates. On a 10,000 piece mailing this can cost you an additional $1010.00 in postage.
